After 18.000km the
belt have to be checked and changed after 24.000km.
I bought a 2001 Silver Wing with 54.000km and the V-Light was on. I think the last time the
belt was changed was the 24.000km inspection and the actual
belt had 30.000km. Then i also installed a J.Costa and a new
Belt. But the
Belt looks realy good with this expected 30.000km. Visual no need to change the
belt!
Honda give no timelimit, other manifactures give time limits (if i'm right, my Piaggio X9 250 with Hondamotor from Helix had a limit of 4 years).
But i think i will change the
belt every 24.000km (Honda Limit and actuation of the Light) or every 5 years, whatever comes first. With my X9 i had a broken
belt on german highway, it is not so funny in real like it sounds
With this change interval i'm on the safe side...
And i only take high quality Belts. The only belts i thrust is Malossi or the
oem part. Malossi have no
belt for Silver Wing 600 therefore i take the
OEM part and it is not so expensive i expected
And i have to say: The beltchange is an easy job on Silver Wing! I had a few other
belt changes before and no one was so easy! I did the job on the sidewalk in the city center, i thinks it is also possible (but uncomfortable) on the roadside but i don't want to do it
