Whats the proper way to turn off a SW? Main switch....kill switch......side stand opening?

At least how you do it more often.I'm changing stator for second time in a year and I'm trying to figure out some possible causes. Thanks in advance

Main switch is the normal way.

What was the damage on the generator?
Overheated or just mechanical?

If overheated... did they check the rectifiers/regulator were ok?
Do you have extra electrical gadgets installed?
Is your battery ok?

Eddy.

No extras at all.Regulator seems ok.Coud be a momentary regulator problem though which is difficult to find.Should I change a regulator too just for peace of mind?

I did some measurments at the already failed stator just to confirm the damage was there. If its possible, could you send me by mail scanned pages of the service manual concerning those measurments ,cause I ain't got one.I was wondering though....If my regulator was faulty ...then a whole year is long enough(15000 miles) with no problem and a boiled /damaged battery should be the primary issue and not the stator.Obliged !

When I had my regulator replaced under Honda Extended Warranty, the mechanic was surprised that the regulator (after testing) was still working. He stated that most times the regulator and stator both have to replaced.

So testing the regulator should be tested.

You may want to add a meter to monitor.
