Hello from North Florida

Hello all!  Some of you may recognize the bike from my recent posts on the Facebook groups.  I found myself banned from Facebook after 15 years, with them saying that I used a false ID.  I have used the same ID for 15 years, and haven't changed a thing about it.  I followed their appeal process (which was also robotic) and they banned me. I have initiated legal inquiries there, but meanwhile, I am happy there is an alternate source for good information and community on these great bikes.  My "Swing" (I didn't know this slang before I bought it) is a 2002, serial number 414.  It's in pretty good shape, essentially a one-owner.  The guy that bought it new rode it to from his home in Thomasville GA to Key West most every year since it was new.  It has a few miles as a result, but still running strong. I've since decided to do new tires, and rebuild the front forks (squeaky, squeaky, squeaky).  There are a few other minor items, but I recognize that buying 23 years old isn't without its perils.  I am always open to hearing from others about things to check on or sharing their travails. While I have held a wrench in some portions of my life, I frequently tend to hire a younger man for a lot of jobs, and thus I am still thinking on the tires and forks in that regard.  If there is a handy Silverwing mechanic in my area, I'd love to hear about them.  Let's talk!

There are a few articles on rebuilding the front forks and at present there are still spare parts available through various outlets, from seals to spring replacements.
It appears from your photo someone has replaced the original screen with a Givi 214 DT extra coverage, a common "mod", and well worth it.

Hi, I'm a not so young, retired career mechanic (Cars/Motorcycles/Aircraft), but still capable, just a little slower nowadays Done lots of DIY work on my own SW600 and posted plenty about it here. I'm just a few hours down I-75, if you're not in a big rush and want to save $$$ come on down.
