I spent a month in hospital in an orthopaedic ward back in the Eighties where the surgeons performed two hip joint replacements a week. It was really good to see patients that had been in constant pain for maybe years, coming and getting the operation and then with the help of the nurses and physiotherapists going up and down the ward on crutches getting used to their new hip.

With that pain taken away it made them happier, they looked younger, and it was a pleasure to see how the new hip joint transformed their lives.

I'm due a hip replacement in near future and encouraging to hear of how mobile one is afterwards,had knee replacement last year and although I walk better etc. can't bend enough to be comfortable on a "proper" bike

My wife has had two knees and one hip replaced and is very happy she did it. She's very active and now I have a bit of trouble keeping up with her. She says she feels like she's ten years younger now.
