| Hello all. I am from Canada. Started to ride in 1978 at 25. Rode a Honda for a few years. Didn't ride until I was 50. Rode for a few years. Crashed one bike. Rode for a few more years. Stopped riding for two years. Now at 60 I would like to go back to riding but not sure how much I want to do. So I started to look at small bikes / scooters. Came across a 2006 SWing/ABS with 4800 kilometers. I am considering buying it.
The seller is installing new tires and new battery. This is an estate sale and the scooter has been idle for 2-3 years. It will need an oil / filter change.
What else should I worry about? Belt? Final drive? Etc.
Thanks for your help.

| You may want to think about new brake lines and anything else rubber as well. The fuel tank may need cleaned out due to gasoline gumming up from sitting so long. Good luck with it all. |

| My advice is to go to the top of the forum and read the line about introducing yourself as a sign of Courtesy!! |

Understood. I edited my initial post. Thank you. The introduction is very good and helps people understand your experience and they can give better advice. |

| As a matter of precaution, and because the scoot has been unloved for so long, you might want to replace the belt. There is a tutorial here on the forum for doing that yourself.
Maybe replace the air filter too.
Parts are available at a discounted prices at www.Partzilla.com. The belt cost just under $100 USD, about $140 from a dealer, and a bazilion dollars in Canada. So if you have a work-around for getting stuff delivered from here now would be the time to use it

Tim Actually a new belt is $135 delivered (ebay) to Canada. Not Partzilla. |

| That being said, i wouldnt even consider changing the belt at 4800 klms. Dont need to be changed till you hit 25000klm, even then is questionable. My bike is an 05 and im still on the original belt at 21000klm and on the original (manufactured 04) front tire, still looks in excellent condition, however changing tires is the next thing on my list. My bike is always inside when not riding so the havoc created by sunlight is not an issue. Bottom line- if your bike was left in the sun for the past 8 years you've got issues, if it was stored inside your good to go! |

| I'm so disappointed, I started reading this topic thinking it was from the Solo, a well known character on UK maxi forums. |
