| Hi all, I am looking at a "grey" import Silverwing 400. Now obviously this means a speedo in km/h & a headlight that dips the wrong way. Would the speedo & headlight from a U.K. spec 600 fit? Or can I get a sticker for the speedo? Any & all help deeply appreciated. Mick |

| This subject has come up before. IIRC it turned out that the km/h speedo wasn't a problem for your MOT inspection. The headlight can be adjusted --both up & down as well as left & right.
You might post your 400/600 interchangeability question to the Singapore Sivlerwing Tech Corner: http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/325894-lt-Info-gt-Silverwing-400cc-600cc-Tech-Corner

| Check with a Motorcycle MOT Station; I think you will find that any vehicle registered in the UK must have a speedometer showing Miles Per Hour.
I stand to be corrected but I think a Silverwing headlight doesn't dip left or right, only straight ahead. |

| The headlight adjusting info, both horizonal and vertical, is located on page 3-20 of the FSM. If the kp/h speedo turns out to be an issue email me. I may be able to find a direct color copy of the mph speedo faceplate which you can use to cover over your existing kp/h faceplate. However that will require that you remove the Combination Meter and lens. Here is a link to that original kp/h - mph discussion: https://www.silverwing600.com/t5944-sw400-from-kph-to-mphTim |

Tim I did the conversion from MPH to KPH when I imported a Honda Reflex to Canada from the USA a few years back. It is possible to dismantle everything and superimpose a new faceplate. The tricky part was aligning the faceplate such that the right speeds i.e. 50 mph lined up in exactly the same spot for the new 80 kph demarcation point. The needles (I did all of the gauges as I changed the background colour combo) were a PITA to remove and reinstall too. You need patience and a steady hand but the procedure is doable ... and ours turned out looking and working great. |
