Givi topbox baseplate & backrest fitting Empty
PostSubject: Givi topbox baseplate & backrest fitting   Givi topbox baseplate & backrest fitting I_icon_minitimeThu Sep 20, 2012 1:20 pm

I've just bought a Givi SR19 baseplate & TB19 backrest an although the backrest fitting pictures make it seem easy enough, I'm not so sure about the baseplate as there's no template or guide as to where to drill. scratch

Daft question 1: Do the items use any of the same drilled holes?

Daft question 2: Anyone any idea as to which is the best order to drill/fit them?

Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid about making holes in my nice new shiny paintwork...!! Embarassed

Remove the rear spoiler and take off the undercover and you will see where to drill the holes. Yes the holes for the backrest are two of the holes for the base plate.

Gerry,

I did a pictorial a few years ago so you may want to look at it.

https://www.silverwing600.com/t31-givi-passenger-backrest-installation-pictorial

Just drill out the 4 holes. The pictorial shows 2 to drill out for the backrest but you will see the other 2 that is pretty obvious. If you need more help just get back to us here. Just be careful because the drill bit will go right through the material pretty quick. So don't think it will take much pressure to push the bit through.

That's great JeffR, it's now very clear. There's no guidance on the fitting instructions for the baseplate but from looking at the backrest instruction pics I had assumed this to be the case, however I just wanted to be sure!

As I want to get this done today, my thanks to you & Roger for your very rapid assistance. :not worthy:

I can confirm that using Jeff's pictorial for the backrest makes fitting both backrest and topbox mount very easy - the 'extra' bit is obvious when you get the spoiler apart. Smile
