| How long a tire lasts depends on the rubber compound and use. But all other things being equal, a 17 inch tire should, mathematically last longer. A single linear inch of tire gets wear every time it hits the ground. So given that a single linear inch on a larger tire will hit the ground fewer times than a smaller one, the smaller one should wear faster. If you figure out a way to get 17 inch tires on a Silverwing safely, be sure and let the forum know. Dan |

For car they have tire ratings ... Tire wear rating Tire handling rating Tire temperature rating So even though a tire may be the same size, each tire can wear differently due to tire compound and heat ... the same would be true for motorcycle tires. There are some people who like "sticky" tires regardless of the low mileage the tire gets. The size of the tire is still dependent on tire compound and temperature handling characteristics of the tire. |
