Front Brake Caliper Interchangeability Non Abs / ABS

Hi Swingers!

Any idea if the front brake caliper can be swapped between the non-ABS and ABS model?

My belief is that it can as the only difference is the mounting bracket , looking at parts sites though the sliding pins look to be at different places on the ABS one suggesting the caliper is longer/ bigger then the non-abs one ? Any ideas.....TIA

It doesn’t look like they are interchangeable. But you might email Siataukreg / Ronald Davies Cox about it. He more than likely has a couple of each version in his shed.

Hi, I spoke to Ron Cox Davies about this a while ago, I had a problem fitting a 2004 wheel to my 2002, The calliper would not fit, the 2004 disk is a larger diameter he said the callipers are the same but the mounting brackets are different, the sliders do look different

Thks , I should know soon as I have ordered a 04 disc and caliper all scondhand.

I had problems removing the pistons from my caliper as it looked like i would need to split the caliper to have the clearance to remove the pistons. THought I would recondition a second caliper and then just swap it out.

You were right by the way , even using the later caliper carrier the larger disk on the ABS model binds on the caliper. It appears the 04 and later fork has a offset for the top mounting point that clears the larger disk.

Worth a try but alas no cigar ......
