| Since I sold my Helix before relocating and now hopefully most of the winter weather is behind us, I've started looking for a replacement. I have been checking Craigslist, scooterfind and other web sites using a couple hundred mile searching radius.
I stopped by an area dealer Saturday afternoon who had a new heldover 2012 Silverwing. Price was $7600.00. Only additional cost would be tax which the salesman said was 7%.
Does that seem like a competitive price for a new SW?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

| I would think that is a bit high for a 2012 even a new one. MSRP was $9270. I know I got one! But look at this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Other-2013-honda-silverwing-scooter-fsc-600-with-abs-/391069670961?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b0d919e31&item=391069670961&pt=US_motorcycles
Not sure if this is within in range for you but looks to be a good deal!!! Good luck. |

| 2012 USED suggested retail value for a wing WITH ABS is 5940 in excellent condition when purchasing from a dealer. Trade in Value is 4090. This from Kelly Blue Book.
You didn't say if this wing has abs or not.
Personally I would play hardball. He's probably floorplanning it at 1-2% per month, so if he's had it since 2012 he's already in the negative. I don't think I'd pay more than 6k for that. I'd tell him: 1. The bike hasn't changed in years so the only thing he is offering you in a new one is the warranty. 2. If the price isn't right you'll just go get a used one at thousands less in good condition. 3. If he really expects to make money on the bike, he should put it in storage for another 22 years and he can then make a profit as a classic. 4. Otherwise he should give it to you at a price that's market reflective, take the hit, and free up his money for more profitable business.
Dan
EDIT Show him the link in the post above, which is 1 year newer. Its in Arkansas so its not THAT far from you. Tell him he at least has to come down at least 5-10% below that price to be competitive. |

| I would play hardball like Dan said. You will be buying a 3 yr old SWing, even though it is new, and there is no reason you should eat the depreciation cost.

| Just wondering if you bought that Silverwing off Ebay could they start adding dealer prep., destination charges or any other hidden fees? I wouldn't think they could but you never know what a dealer may try to make more money. |

| The Dealer in Searcy. Arkansas quoted me $6,500 out the door a month or so ago. Prices will start to go up now because the riding season is here. Be aware of on-line dealers prices and always compare the 'out the door' price because lots of those prices don't include all kinds of additional fees that typically raise the price by over a thousand dollars, plus or minus a few. | Chattanooga try Southern Honda for lowest price, another dealer Honda of Chattanooga has at least 2 on floor---one new leftover and one used, they tend to have high prices----I paid $6800 for left over 2013 over a year ago. |

| Sam, that's why I asked the question about add on fees when a dealer has a scooter for sale on Ebay. |

| I bought a new leftover 2012 last summer for $6900 plus tax. I'd offer $7k OTD on that TN. bike and see what happens. |

| Dave are you referring to the one that Glenn posted a link to in the second post in this topic? If not could you post a link to save everyone from having to search Ebay for the one we think you mean? |

| Hey Everyone:
I am waiting on an OTD price from a Dealer in SC for a new 2012 SW. Initial listing price was very competitive. Dealer says he wants to sell it. So we will see. Should have the price this afternoon or tomorrow. Will share it when I get it. Thanks for all the responses.

| Having purchased over 75 new bikes since 1955 ----and ridden them to the tune of over 1.5 million miles-----price isn't the only thing, dealer close to you? Service dept? AND for a now out of production bike: who wants to work on it?
I prefer for my dealer to be nearby, in my case for warranty, as I do most other work myself. |

| I found an ad on Craig List from Power Sports of Greenville, SC which advertised a new 2012 SW for $5995.00. Spoke with the salesman to get an OTD price. Salesman said: We will do what we need to do to move it. Sent me an email yesterday. Their OTD price increased to $7475.42! Made a counter offer of $6400.00 OTD. Don't expect to hear back.
Have started looking at the used market and there are several late model SW's within 150 miles of Chatt including some red/maroon and even a blue one. What year did the SW's start adding ABS and does it make a big difference?
Thanks again for all the posts.

| Radio,
Good luck to you and hope it works out for the best. If it is brand new it is worth paying a little more than blue book but not a couple of thousand, IMO. But if you are able to find one you will really like it. |

| ABS was available as an option from 02 through 09 I believe. From 2010 up ABS came as standard equipment I'm sure. |

| I purchased a 2010 Silverwing (Jan2015) for 4600.00. It has 5,000 miles on it and is in perfect condition. The inspection cost me exactly 50 bucks. I search craigslist for a few months before finding this SW. In my research I found that the new SW's were running anywhere from 7000.00 to 7400.00 out the door (for 2012 and 2013 models) I figured I saved from 2000.00 to about 2400.00 by purchasing used. For an older fella (63 yrs) I didn't figure I would be doing a lot of long touring. Had I planned to do that I may have paid the extra 2 grand just to get a warranty for piece of mind. Hope this helps. Coolbreeze |
