Hi Guys, I just installed my Dr Pulley sliders today, It made quite an improvement in acceleration, doesn't seem to have that lag the stock setup had. And it looks like my RPMs dropped about 400 at freeway speed. I put the video of the RPM difference on YouTube. Sorry the video isn't great, but riding the scooter and filming at the same time was no easy task.
I Timed how long it took to teardown and install the sliders, and put everything back together. It only took 19min 58sec for the whole job. That doesn't count getting the tools out though.

I remember when I installed the 28 gr sliders and I noticed acceleration improvement. I first went with the 21gr and it was just too much revs but sometimes I wish I would have put the 26 gr in. I think the sliders are a great deal and the best 'bang for your buck'. You also did it pretty quick as well.

I took the Swing for a 50 mile ride to day to check out the new sliders, I have to say that I'm impressed. Just that little drop in RPMs make it much smoother at freeway speeds. No problem pulling the steep grades we have around here. Now to get rid of the vibration somewhere in the front faring. And it looks like I will be fixing an oil leak where the stator wires come out on the right side case. I'm definitely getting to know this bike really well, that's for sure.

I'm not much of a clutchologist. I don't understand how just changing weights can reduce the final drive ratio. Unless you replace the plate or a fresh belt

4getful2 the Dr Pulley sliders will slide farther out than rollers making the belt ride higher. Well instead of trying to explain it I'll just give you a link and let Union Material show you how they work. I'm sure the following link will explain it better than me. Dr Pulley web site.

I am currently on a ride down to JAX FL for an IBA get together and installed a new belt last week. I can testify that a new belt will allow cruising speeds at a lower RPM. Still using the same 28gm Dr Pulley sliders for the last bazillion miles. Man those things just dont wear out.

Tim, I have 26 Gram sliders on mine with only 4 rides under their belt. A brazillion is quite a bit so I guess I'm good to go on them anyway. Now if they'd make tires that would last that long... I suppose my 26 gram sliders will only get 90% of the life of the 28 grams just because they are lighter. But, 90% of a brazillion is still quite a bit.

Update on gas mileage! I just filled up after 170.5 miles and it took 3.24gal. So that makes it 52.6 mpg. Before putting in the sliders, the best I got was 48.9. I tend to ride on the freeway a lot, probably 75% freeway, and 25% in town, so that few hundred rpms I lost with the sliders did me some good.

Jim,
That is good news. Does it also run a bit smoother with the sliders? I thought mine smoothed out a bit more and I have always thought that my SWing was very smooth. I have the CTX now but my SWing was very smooth.

I remember getting a boost in mpg after the slider install. Another key factor for better MPG is a clean air filter.

They are both pretty easy, but if I had to rate them I'd say the windshield is a little less involved. If you have a shop manual and the Dr Pulley Sliders are the newest design I don't think you'd have a problem with ether one.

I would say the shield is easier to install. I have a Pictorial on here that will give you step by step instructions. I also have one that gives step by step on how to install the J. Costa variator, so all you do is install the sliders which is very easy, once all the casing is off.

searched this site and found this thread, i have a NEW belt and i am thinking of changing it so i have a good spare, Swing had 16k miles when i bought it 9 months ago, its an 08, it now has about 24k i inspected the belt at 19k miles and it looked new but could not located the former owner and the dealership had no record of changing it. also want to change the sliders as per what you guys have said.
SO my Question is: what size sliders or rollers?
What do the sliders do as far as acceleration, top speed?? i dont go Interstate roads and my avg speed i like is 60-70 mph with a few hills. looked on Ebay Dr Pulley 28gm Sliders for around 50 bucs.
what size tools are needed for a road side belt change. i carry most tools needed but are there any special size sockets?

I settled on the 26gmDr. Pulley's. They gave me a little quicker acceleration, and lowered the rpms at freeway speeds. (55mph and up). I also increased my MPGs from 49mpg to an average of 52mpg, mostly because I ran at freeway speeds most of the time. The 28gm sliders should feel like the stock rollers except you will get the lowered rpms at speed. Definitely Change your belt, especially with that many miles, much easier to change it at home than on the side of the road. As far as tools, 8mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm, Torque wrench, and a drive pulley holder tool. When you do the belt, it's a good idea to remove the driven pulley and grease the bearings too.

This is where I got mine from, they were very quick! They cost €55.90 or about £43.
Made a massive difference to my silverwing! I also decided to buy their sliding pieces, which needed filing a little to fit!

I also went with the 26g Dr. Pulley Sliders. From only driving a couple hundred miles so far on them I would say quicker and more responsive acceleration and lower RPM at highway speeds over 50MPH. Do not have enough mileage data to determine gas mileage change yet.
I would install them and just change the belt at the same time to be safe, knowing when it was done keeping track should avoid the need for a roadside belt change. A roadside replacement is possible but why carry some of the extra tools like a variator tool, wrench to remove the 17mm bolt and a torque wrench?
I purchased them stateside at Buggy Parts Northwest, original Dr. Pulley brand, about $54. Service and shipping was quick and no issues.

Sliders engage up to 20% faster than traditional rollers. They allow you to engage in higher gear ratios. Sliders last longer with much less wear than rollers because they slide rather than roll"

Guys you have me going I've got my drive apart, checked the rollers, all in spec, in fact everything including the belt was, ( 9,000 miles ). Then I weighed the 4 sliders, 28 grams, now as these wear shouldn't performance improve if 26 gram sliders are what you get when you buy the Dr's?
LOL at myself, the clutch REMOVAL was the EZ part of this, sanded drum and shoes, not that bad but still did it.

I believe the performance improvement has more to do with the shape/design of the sliders vs the rollers and how they function in the variator. The weight also affects how the slider performs but as I understand it, the shape and design are the real benefit. So the roller wearing down to 26g in weight will not do the same to performance.

Rollers don't actually "roll". They will develop flat spots, not good.

OK, mine will roll EZ and smoothly on a smooth flat surface, my wife's glass top range made an excellent testing ground Oh and no pliers needed, when I got the nut off a slight tug and bingo the the entire assembly was.
