Oil Consumption.

Is an oil consumption of 0.20 qt (200 cc) per 1k miles (1600 km) acceptable ...for city use only ? (10w-40).What's yours ?

I cant detect any loss in 4000 miles according to the dip stick and most of my miles are commuting in London.

Do you have an oil leak?

No leaks...just agressive ride and 50 kmiles.May that be the reason

Which oil are you using?

Motul full synt factory line and I changed to Amsoil full synt 10 -40.Same thing with both

After riding at 140 klph ,I notice some lost of oil , not much but some.I average 100 klph most of the time and very little oil lost between oil change.Better to loose a little oil at high speeds,to keep thing lubricated.

As I said in another recent post, I only burned oil when using Rotella 15W-40. And that was a pint in about 1500 miles so was not horrible. Since switching back to 10W40 haven't used any... And it could have been some other variable as well (heat, speed or something) so I am not for sure that the Rotella is to blame. But now with over 8300 miles on my scoot it does not use any oil. Took a 1300+ mile trip a couple of months ago with lots of freeway driving and never used any oil.

How many miles on your scoot? Mine used oil on the 2nd change only perhaps it was not fully broken in... Good luck.

Make sher your breather hose system is not plugged and that it is working good . If it is plugged or not working corectly that will make your Silverwing use oil .
