| I'd say riding 6 miles a day your scooter barely gets warmed up if you're only on it for about 3 miles at a time. I regularly fill up my 2010 model after 160-170 miles and there's still a bar left on the gauge before it goes onto reserve. It seems that the earlier Silver Wing models are thirstier than the later ones, and I've read a few posts similar to yours. |

| I am never able to limit myself to 6 miles per day. Gad zooks, there have to be places across town or down the road that need seeing, if only to see if they have changed since yesterday. |

| Maybe a clogged air filter? Did you check the plugs for deposits?

| How much do you refill? Did you calculated the mpg? Possibly it is not a problem of fuel consumption, possibly it is a problem of fuel indication |

| I agree with our German friend. If you are getting 80 miles on 4.2gals of fuel, you have a PROBLEM. If you fill up at half tank, that is 80 miles on 2.1 gals. Not such a big problem. I would take some steps to collect more information. Fill up on a level surface. Top off tank. Take short ride of 80 or 100 miles round trip returning to same location to refill the tank. Calculate your mileage there and see if it is as bad as you feel it is now. Short, in town, trips will consume more fuel than longer ones, but you need to establish a bench mark for a reasonable trip for true comparison.
Good luck. The only work on your part at this stage is take a ride. But, somebody has to do it. |
