Hi,
Receiving my 2010 Silver Wing today. Upgraded from an Aprilia Scarabeo 500ie. Loved the Beo, but, wanted a more substantial ride for Interstate travel. Biking to NYC from Sarasota, FL in about three weeks, extra weight and speed should enhance ride. Been reading the forum, picking up good recommendations, already implementing some. Looking forward to many miles and smile, too.

Dom I would give some thought to the Givi AF windshield before heading off to NYC from Sarasota. It is a long ride to have the wind hitting you all the way, and the extra hand protection would be nice on them cool nights up in NYC and even down here in the winter.

Thanks for the heads up on the windshield. I opted for the Madsted as it seemed less challenging to install and I liked the height adjustment mechanism which has been upgraded to a knob.

Dom, keep us informed on how you like the Madstad. Not too many SilverWing owners are using one, so I'm sure we would all like to know the positives and negatives on the Madstad. And I hope you have a safe ride home on your SilverWing. Are you riding by yourself, with a passenger or will you have others riding along?

Will do. Should have it installed next week. Riding alone. Plan a leisurely pace stopping off in Charleston, Baltimore and wherever the spirit moves me.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new SWing. You will have no problem riding in comfort down to Florida. The windshield is the most important mod in my opinion, unless you are very, very short. You may want to think about Dennis's gps mount for the Swing too. I have it and think it is the best way to have a gps mounted to the SWing, and I have tried the mirror and handlebar mounts too.

But congrats and have a great ride down there. If you need to do any maintenance, take a look at the "Pictorial" section. Many members have posted on how to do maintenance.

Really appreciate all the good wishes and savvy info. Have tried to contact Dennis by email and forum post to no avail. Do want one of those GPS mounts. Looks like a winner. Having grown up in NYC am not daunted by traffic although it does contribute to the development of a highly tuned type A personality. Spent last summer and fall dodging taxis, limos and every conceivable variety of truck on those active streets with my Scarabeo 500. Looking forward to the same with the SWing.

Are you certain you have the correct email address for dennis? Also, are you using a gmail, yahoo or other email account that his mail account might be flagging as spam? I've found Dennis to respond in a timely manner, and am currently in correspondence with him about a light bar.

I know, i visited last September. Next time I will let you know and maybe we can connect. Got a chance to visit London, but only for a day. Want to spend more time in future.

In my experience a top-box will not adversely affect the handling unless it's overloaded.
