Yesterday the temperature was about 39F but clear and sunny. A friend of mine, a gentleman of 86 years called and said, "let's go for a ride". So he on his Goldwing and me on the SW had a real nice ride through several small towns and the hills of the Rogue River Valley. Not a long ride but a nice circuit through the hills with a stop at one town for coffee and pie. It was a comfortable ride since I was hooked up to my Gerbings though my knees seemed to be frostbitten. Not quite as much shelter on the SW for the thighs and knees as the GW used to provide. I guess I'll have to get some thermal underwear. But even with the cold knees it was a beautiful ride for the two of us through the backcountry of Southern Oregon. BTW - I stand in awe of my friend, still riding at his age. Not to mention he spent his 17th birthday landing on Iwo Jima as a forward observer for naval bombardment. That followed up a couple months later by the landing on Okinawa. Makes me feel pretty insignificant thinking what I was doing at that age.

Get your self some UK wind deflectors and your knees will thank you for them. I have knee replacements and I ride at 5 C and don't feel the cold. Its the best mods that I ever did for cold whether riding.

I believe you have the right idea tinman, I'll contact one of my British friends on the Saunders Goldwing forum and arrange a set.
