| It is made out of 5 ply (very strong) plywood. The only purpose of this was to pad the bolts so that no one could get scratched by them. |

| apparently you did not see my post the other day, sorry but i warned everyone that read that post not to purchase that item. the hoes they drilled weren't in the right location, lol, had to file them out for an hour tomake them fit, the holes were drilled in different locations so the pad they give u was on at a slant. the ends where they cut the bars and drilled the holes were not even painted, and they charge $15 for shipping. biggest of all is the only way you can contact them is by emial, no phone number is available, thats why i am still kicking my buttrest for even buying mine and tried to warn everyone. sorry,,,, i tried to get it out there, hope yours is better. please inform me the outcome. jim |

| I am sorry you had difficulty. That model is new to is and there were problems when we made the first few. We do not offer phone support but check emails many times a day and reply quickly.
If you would like to return the backrest, we have a 7 day refund policy that is explained in the instructions. We have now modified our procedures to check for these problems before they go out. We should have done this with your kit but must not have.
If you would like to return it, we can also send you out a newer model that has had better quality control. Please let us know.
Our refund policy quoted directly from the installation instructions is:
"We are looking to provide excellent customer satisfaction and include a 7 day money back guarantee with your purchase (less shipping costs). If you are not completely satisfied with your kit, please give us the opportunity to try to assist you by letting us know at customerservice@bestbackrests.com. If you still are not satisfied after you have given us a chance to assist you further, ship the backrest back to us with the postage paid, we will refund your purchase price (less original shipping charges). If you have any questions or comments, please also write us at: customerservice@bestbackrests.com."
We did not hear from you until you had explained all the problems and that you had worked on it for one hour, but we will bend the 7 days for you and still take it back if that is what you want.
Please let us know. Again, we are sorry for your difficulty but stand by our products.
Best regards and many happy miles.

| quality control did not exist on the unit you sent me, lol, it was a joke that cost me 64 dollars and i'm tired of being ripped off. so i just put the unit in the garbage and will continully warn others of sham artists. when i saw the holes and ends cut offs were not even painted, that was a dead give away that backrest.com did not care what they sent out. i dont feel like wasting my time with emails especially since i am the one responsible for the cost of shipping it back to them. thanks but no thanks, first impressions do last a while. | Please send me a PM with your name and the address we mailed the first one to you to.
We are going above and beyond our policy but we do stand by our products. We will put another one in the mail to you that has been through quality control checks.
If you do not like this one, please be made aware now that we will not be able to refund any money unless we receive it back in the mail to us (as our policy clearly states). If you again choose not to send it back, there cannot be a refund of the purchase price.
As for the question that emerged about why there are no Silver Wing Backrests in the testimonials, is probably because we just began making them.
Best regards and many happy miles.

That is SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!! What right do you have to expose someone's email address to the internet? No wonder your website does not adhere to any privacy policies!!!!!! Not only do you have a problem with quality control, but you are violating basic privacy policies/issues. I would NEVER do business with this vendor ... and I will be glad to keep telling others NOT to do business this vendor. Now I have to investigate how to report this vendor to the appropriate internet authorities. |

I ride two up 60% of the time!!!! I have ridden with passengers as tall as 6'-4". The Utopia backrest has never interfere or been a problem for any passenger that I have taken ... I have had numerous passengers with different sizes and shapes. There is a hugh difference between the Utopia and the raised butt rest. |

| Good day-
I thought I would share the second review from a customer of our Buttrest to Backrest Conversion kits that many people were interested in prior: (The author gave his permission that I can use the testimonial).
"I have the backrest raiser hardware that one of our members makes and I love it. Yesterday a lady approached me, as she has a Silverwing too, and wanted to know where to get that nifty little piece of hardware that raises the stock driver's backrest up to give real back support. It has been a real ride enhancer for me. Can the person who makes this get in touch with me so. I can pass where to get it along? Thanks" |

| Fine but you have a 100% failure rate with the member here. If you can't even drill the holes in the right places as a matter of course and then see they were wrong, no amount of testimonials will make any difference. 'Once bitten, twice shy'. |

| If you read the recent post earlier today, please read all of it. You will see we stood by our product and gave a refund actually the person sending back the defective kit. We have since sold many of these with great feedback and only 1 other person returned it because he did not like it (we refunded them too). We now have templates for the hole spacing issue described in detail from ONE of the first kits we made. They are now re-checked before they are packaged. All the information can be found at http://bestbackrests.com by clicking on the link for the Silver Wing Buttrest to backrest kit tab on top. Thank you and we wish you all Happy Holidays :rendeer: and many happy and comfortable miles. |

I did end up purchasing the pad by itself for half the cost of the pad + brackets and have enjoyed it for more than a year now. It arrived quickly, matches the SWing seat material nicely, and fit perfectly. it appears to be holding up quite well. My only suggestion for improvement would be a little more padding. |

The above is a quote from 2 posts up.
I'm probably the other person mentioned who received a refund.
I bought one, it was not to my liking & I received a full refund the minute they received it back again.
I was out the return postage, but I knew I could be when I purchased it.
Had no complaints with quality control, just the fit of it & my back. |

Its nice to know they both stand behind their products.
Its actually forums like this that assure it. A bad reputation goes a long way, and when you have a limited clientele that communicates with each other, a single bad move can be devistating.
Thank you both for Being Stand-up people.

| Hi Gary- It does not swing for the passenger to board. It requires two wrenches and about 5 minutes to remove it so a passenger can ride (and again about 5 mins) to re-install it. Factory Honda did not leave us enough room to leave it on with a passenger riding.
Best regards, Happy New Year, and thank you for the inquiry. |

This is just a simple extension to the butrest. I am not sure what they make for a backrest at Russell for the stock Silverwing seat but I am sure it would add a lot to the cost to make something that was able to swing out of the way. I suppose you could cut the bars and add a hing that would bend forward, but that would probably weaken it some. I never ride two up so I never gave it any thought. I did change one thing to Leroys directions, and that was to tap the bars wear they attach to the stock brackets so no nuts were needed. That kept me from needing to add a pad to the extension bars. My low back doesn't hit the extension bars as I bent them enough to me keep pushed forward. It is easy to make to fit your own posture yourself, but we are different shapes, and one size will not fit all. If you can not do your own work pay Big bucks for custom fit local or live with out of the box. |

| I purchased this kit last week. It arrived yesterday and I put it on this AM. Even "I" did this in less than 30 minutes..and I am the most tool challenged person around Angle irons are very stout. All required nuts & washers were in package. Instructions were clear. I did have to slide one of the stock rails in first before connecting it to the main assembly as the new angles caused too much torque to slide both in while mounted. I did tap the backrest bolts a "bit" to move them, but did not want to correct all the alignment issues as I wasn't sure how much movement they could take. I am going to leave the underseat allen bolts off as the torque alone is making sure the assembly is not going anywhere... It's still 34deg so I'm going to wait till the road frost melts before getting out...but I can tell I am already sitting a lot farther back in the seat than with the stock rest in standard position..which is why I purchased this unit. Overall, I'm "very" pleased with both the speedy shipment and the assembly itself. Will update after I've ridden a few hundred miles. **TWO WEEKS LATER** Fantastic seat. Am very happy with the solution and recommend this product to anyone. |

The second one made by threebrothers.com I bought it through Ebay and paid less than $ 50.00 I am 6'2" and had to use a few shims on the top part of the rest and the upper part of the metal bars that go into the seat. Nice! feels much better than my old one and looks MUCH better. |

| $84.95 to high of a price for me. I made the same backrest from stuff I had laying around the garage for free. Two pieces of steel about 1-3/16" X 3/16" X 7-1/2" I tried a pad I made but I didn't like the way the pad hit my back so left it off. Not hard at all. Hear is how to do it yourself. http://www.leroybeal.net/motorcycles/silverwing/articles/backrest/backrest.html |

| Backrest
I bought this one and have no complaints; had a question regarding installation and talked to the seller by phone and he was very helpful! Just my 2 cents. |
