hi all the scoot is pulling away at 2600 to 3000 revs is this normal rev range.ive just taken out the clutch today and found the following .the shoes have 2 to 3 mm of material left on them the sping is red in colour is this original? the swing now has 67000 miles on and running well.only questioning it because in the last month found the revs have risen slightly to take of.ive checked the belt have around 5000 miles left and the 26g rollers are only 1000miles old.

At 67000 miles --and because you are expressing concern-- it probably wouldn't hurt to change the clutch springs.

While there is nothing wrong with OEM springs, I'd suggest that you get a set of Malossi clutch springs. They come as a kit of five of each springs with three different tensions; white, red and yellow. The white springs have the 'lightest' tension, but is stronger than Honda OEM springs.

Try the white springs first. You'll probably see some improvement but nothing remarkable. You can always move up to the other spring tensions if you aren't satisfied with your results. However, the higher the spring tension the higher the rpm's will be when the clutch engages.

Then again, you can always upgrade to a Dr Pulley HiT Clutch, but that's a topic for another post.

When the springs are weakening, the engage rpm's will lower.

When the shoes become thinner, the rpm's will rise.( a little)

I don't know how thick the shoes are when new.

Just happened to be researching info on clutch removal when I came across this post. Having the service manual on the desk in front of me, I thought I could answer this question.

Lining thickness is 4.0 mm new and service limit is 1.0 mm.
