| Saying hi from Ohio but only a few more days on leave and I go back to my duty station in San Diego. I joined because I'm looking at some silver wings on Facebook but want some advice. there is a 2007 swing about 10 miles from me here in Ohio. its 2200 I think that sounds like a fair price but the ad says will need new front tire and new wheel bearings. so is this something I should avoid ? or at least go look at? oh it also says 15,000 miles on it. |

| $2200 sounds like a decent price for an ‘07. But at only 15,000 miles I question why the need for wheel bearings? Was it under water?
And it has obviously been sitting unused for quite some time so you certainly might want to somehow insure that the fuel system is okay. At minimum add SeaFoam or Techron to the fuel. And expect that the fuel gauge may be erratic* because of gunk & varnish contamination on the fuel gauge sending unit. And expect to do that treatment over the next several tanksful if the fuel gauge is erratic.
Even if it does run you might use that deteriorated fuel / rust in the tank as a bargaining point.
*Like always reading full or flashing empty. Or the gauge dropping out mid tankful and then picking up again later.

| Hi, Having owned and worked on probably over 400 different bikes, many scooters, I have learned that if it doesn't run properly, don't buy it! Reason being even if they say it needs minor work, one would fix it and charge more. Like Cosmic said, 15000 shouldn't have bearing issues. |

| Thanks for the responses and I gave up on that bike the guy never answered. I did find a 2012 swing at a dealership and I love it but couldn’t do anything to get it I have to wait until I go back on leave probably October. I definitely want one and the 2012 has 6600 miles on it and looks fantastic. It probably will be gone by time I go home but they might have another one by then and the salesman said he would do his best to find me one. I’ll keep reading the forums. |
