| Is this decreased power a new phenomenon? Did it start after you did some of the aforementioned maintenance?
Three things jumped to mind:
1) the spark plug is fouled 2) your rollers are wearing 3) perhaps a hot flush of your carb and fuel system would do the trick? (i.e. Seafoam) |

| How many miles? Mine is low mileage <10k. (02). I had an issue where cold start was difficilult (died on rev) until warm. Eventually, no start. Cleaned the carb. Replaced fuel filter and pump. Some improvement, but still wouldn't run smoothly or at low rpm. Finally took it in. Obviously fuel delivery issue because it ran fine if you dumped starter fluid or gas in the carb. Turns out the aftermarket pump I bought was not delivering consistently. Tested the old Honda pump and it was dead as expected. Had to bite the bullet and order OEM pump at $160 USD. Put the new pump on myself in the parking lot of the Honda shop and it fired up and ran great. $260 for their labor. So close to $500 USD to sort it (tax!). Anyway, easy test is to shoot a little starting fluid in the intake. If it perks up, you know it's likely a delivery issue. Then work your way from the filter to the pump. Just don't cheap out on the parts. Sonuvabug also has good advice. Seafoam is a great product. |

| Either search this website for "rollers" or Google "CVT rollers".
Rollers (or you can also use sliders) are what regulate your acceleration, speed and top end vis a vis your throttle input/rpm's. They are located in the CVT variator housing ... right behind where you changed your drive belt.
You can look them up in your FSM (Factory Service Manual). If you don't have one, get one as it will be your single best investment if you will be servicing your own scoot.
Don't know if these symptoms have presented themselves after the scoot's winter hibernation or not. Our Big Ruckus (pretty close to the same engine/CVT configuration) was always rough running early in the season. Always needed a good carb cleaning and some miles until it found it's groove.
Our Reflex, by comparison, was better but both scoots were cold natured and a little finicky. I sure do appreciate the EFI now on our SWing and Burgy 400. |
