| I sold my 2003 and only have my 2008 model. New Deka battery. Won’t even turn over? Dead. Old battery worked fine. Just new battery peace of mind. Hooked up old battery and nothing with that either. Lights and dash board work fine? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Bike has 5K miles and was just running for a fifteen mile ride Saturday. My guess is kickstand switch or brake switch? D |

| Need to check basics 1st, check all fuses including 30 amp at starter relay, check/clean your grounds, kinda below starter relay(area/cavity above swingarm)several, you state is dead ?, but you have dash lights , is fuel pump priming ?. In general your idea of kickstand or brake limit switch are the "no crank" causes, easy check per Service Manual page 20-11 will check operation of both. IAC this is INFO/PSA for those with mechanical/electrical know how/skills. Good luck. |

| Two things come to mind. 1. You blew the main fuse when connecting the new battery. 2. The engine kill switch on the right handle bar is on.
Good luck! |

| Easy enough to jump front brake switch with some wire. kickstand switch a lot harder to reach. Check all the fuses under the seat for power. There are 2 30 amp fuses likely 1 for each box. Only takes a touch to short something with full battery voltage. |

| I don’t know what happened? Next day started right up ? Maybe I did not pull the brake in far enough? Been riding it every day. No issues. Thanks. D |

Squeezing the brake, any squeeze firm that's enough to keep the bike from moving should do the trick, left hand. |

On my bike I have to pull rear brake lever fairly hard to hear/activate the start limit switch ??, I wonder if there's and issue ??, IAC I have done the "Parking Brake Switch Mod" to allow bike to start with PB set/stand down, love it |
