| I am going to have to repaint my front brake master cylinder when it comes back from blasting next week.
I'm looking for advice on the type of primer and paint to use. As a plastic model aircraft builder I am confident about brush painting it but can't find much about which paint to use, especially needing it to be 'brake fluid resistant'. |

| I remember a few years ago I painted the callipers on my wife’s fiesta.
Painted them a lovely hammerite red, can go straight on with no primer. |

| Wow, I'd forgotten about Hammerite, I've even got an unopened pot of the stuff in the garage....somewhere, but I can't remember what colour it is or even why I bought it! I hope it's black and is 'smooth' finish... |

| Hammerite black for the black bits and Hammerite silver for the silver bits. What else can you possibly need? |

| No such thing. Brake fluid eats paint, plastic. Prep. of painted surface the most important thing. Wash off fluid as soon as possible and no problems. My 2¢ I'm going to paint my calipers red and add some Brembo stickers instant upgrade. |

| Doesn’t powder coating resist brake fluid “errors”? |

Yes, PC if properly applied is very good, but it can be tricky on parts with threads or moving internal/extenal parts. In a rattle can, a high performance industrial enamel(rust-oleum professional) or appliance epoxy works good, but you must use a etching primer on metal and allow to dry at least a week or more for paint to really cure, 2 part oil based epoxy or single stage urethane with hardener are the best choice but $$$. The wheels on one of my bikes are painted with high $$$ S/S/urethane, had brake fluid spilled on it NP. Most oem coatings are oven/heat room cured, thus harder, KIM that the oem paint chemistry is specifically designed for this to speed up assembly, can't really force/heat cure rattle can paint that way, it could actually weaken them. |

Yes its evil stuff on anything. Whenever I'm using brake fluid I always have a bucket of water handy to sluice down anything that it spills onto. And even if it hasn't I still wash everything down to be on the safe side. |
