Sure you can loosen the bolt with an impact tool (17 mm socket). But please do not use an impact tool to tighten the bolt. Use a proper torque wrench. While there will be conflicting opinions from others, IMHO if using a power tool to reinstall the bolt it's very easy for something to go wrong very quickly.

Also, it is not necessary to get that official Honda variator tool. There are several posts here showing inexpensive DIY tools. But if you've already ordered the tool...

What was the Honda part number for the tool?

AFAIK The official Honda part # for that universal variator tool is 07725-0030000. But using that tool kinda requires 3 hands. Here is a DIY tool which is much easier to use (because the pins are longer) and will cost less too. The material is readily available at any hardware store. And you won’t need metric hardware, 1/4-20 bolts will be fine.

Hey, it would be courteous if you introduced yourself.
