| Shad seems to be the leader and most expensive cargo/luggage/backrest for the Honda Silverwing.
I was hoping to get some less expensive alternative input from the members. Does anyone have some suggestions. I have a 2007 gun-metal/silverwing and was hoping to get a top box that matched the color (as close as possible). Does anyone have any suggestions on cheaper alternatives?? Any experience with alternative mounting hardware as well??
Thanks. obdarrel |

| Honda UK had a 45 litre colour matched top box with a fitted back rest as part of the FJS Silver Wing accessories range for many years. It was also a freebie on some promotional deals for the Silver Wing in the usual boring black colours of silver, black, and dark blue. They seem to have been popular as even now lots of used Silver Wings for sale have them fitted.
Motorcycle luggage isn't that expensive, you're just on the wrong side of the Pond. Unlike Givi, and Kappa, Shad include the mounting plate when you purchase their top boxes.

| As there is safety factor here (falling off)---good luggage such as Givi is worth it-----they do not fall off! My Givi E-46 box has been around since 1998, over 500,000 miles on various bikes/scooters. Using their racks.
Bestem in US, used to have moderate price boxes, but it appears they do not have them in stock anymore. I have one I got for $40 on my 2019 Kymco XTown 300i, mounting plate bolted directly to rear wing=works, dog likes it.
As I am rider, I could care less about color coordination on older bike. |

| Do a search for top boxes. Loads of info on here about this. Topic comes up frequently. |

I quite agree, buy a colour coordinated top box and it looks out of place and cheapskate mounted on any other coloured bike or scooter. Buy a classic satin black one and it's just another part of the scooter. My Givi E55 went from my Silver Wong on to my Forza for the price of a new Monorack and rear rails. Which is a lot more cost effective than buying the overpriced and smaller capacity colour matched offering from Honda, and it doesn't look oversized on the smaller scooter either. |

| My wifes Swing came with a GIVI trunk thats very close to being color matched. I think its a 34 liter. I have a extra 39 liter bland black SHAD I offered to swap out and she said no. Its all about it looking good for her! Those Bestem trunks use to come color matched to Swings and are good quality as well. So you have the following to choose from:
GIVI. You pay once for the best quality. SHAD. Great product at a great price. My favorite. KAPPA. GIVI made. Equal to SHAD in quality. Bestem. Very nice and come/came in colors! Emgo. Cheap price but great quality. I have a small one on my Zuma.
What other good ones am I missing?

Well there’s always the “free” milk crate and a $5 can of Krylon Fusion spray paint. |

| My second Silverwing came with a colour-co-ordinated Honda box. It was really rather nasty so I replaced it with the Givi E52 which I'd taken off my Belgian Silverwing before I sold it.
As Meldrew did, so did I; for the cost of a new Givi plate, I was back to being comfortable with the capacity, convenience and look of a Givi box.
When I sold Silverwing 2 I left the box on it as Silverwing #3 already had an E52 fitted.
Incidentally, the Givi separate passenger backrest fits with the box and is much more comfortable than the pads fitted to the boxes. |

Well there’s always the “free” milk crate and a $5 can of Krylon Fusion spray paint. Those milk crates that are plastic are heavy duty too. Plus if you ride in the rain and have dirty clothes just put them in there and the rain will get through the holes and you'll have clean clothes after a 100 miles or so. If your clothes are clean already just put them in a garbage bag and tie it shut. Bingo! No Problem... A friend of mine told me that works. I don't know that from any sort of personal experience... |
