info needed if its out there

Hi, can anyone tell me if the rear brake pistons are the same as the two front pistons, I want to replace the 2 in the front caliper, I see on Ebay they sell the rear piston individually but don't sell the front ones either individually or by the pair. I don't need the smaller piston that aids the rear brake and I have new seals for all and would just like to buy two individual pistons for the front instead of the full kit of three

According to 'The Book' the front brake has three caliper pistons, not two. The upper and lower pistons are the same size, and the middle is slightly smaller. The rear brake piston is the same size as the upper and lower ones on the front brake.

Many thanks for the info, I will now buy the 2 for the rear and fit them to the front as they are the same size.

There is an outfit called cheapcycleparts.com. They have exploded views and part numbers per year. The site was good the buying experience was so so. They are kind of expensive but they seem to have everything. Seems Meldrew posted before me, but I'm going to post it anyway.

Many thanks for the info, I can get new rear pistons on Ebay in the uk complete with seals at £17.99 each including postage so I think I may give them a try
