Fairing separation ? Empty
PostSubject: Fairing separation ?   Fairing separation ? I_icon_minitimeSat May 18, 2019 6:30 pm

So I was cruising home from work yesterday and I heard a faint pop or bump.  Shortly after I notced a little gap between the black plastic dash and the right fairing.   I'm guessing there were tabs that snapped off or something.

But does anyone have any suggestions on how to tighten this up so the silver fairing part doesn't vibrate while I'm driving?

Thanks

You can pop out that right cubby (with the lid open squeeze in the L & R sides and kinda lever the latch end up out of the panel). Anyway, with the cubby removed you might gain enough working space to pull up on that dash area and thump the panel back into position. There are also several other body panel screws in that area which might warrant removal to give you more wiggle room. From your photos it "appears" that some of the locator tabs are still there.

You could follow Mr Grinsel's last resort advise but do remember that "holes" don't go away with time. They just become bigger mistakes.

I took out the right cubby and all of my tabs are broken.  there is a lower one that is held by a screw so the broken part was still there on the screw.  So I broke out the old JB Weld for plastic and it's holding for now.  But I'll keep an eye out for replacement tupperware in the meantime.  Thanks for the help all!

Hopefully this video will help when the time comes to remove the Front Cover to repair those broken tabs.
