Denray hitch Empty
PostSubject: Denray hitch    Denray hitch I_icon_minitimeThu Nov 29, 2018 7:05 am

Was finally able to muscle a denray hitch onto the swing.  First issue was left side bolt mount was too small for supplied bolt.  Was able to drill out but wasn't easy due to shape of hitch.
Second issue was need to remove both rear spring bolts before the hitch would align properly.  Removed both ONCE and fought to lift body back up. Better rethink this.
Finally used small drill bits to keep both shocks properly lined.  Needed to lift rear tire to open up holes enough to tap bolt thru using a hammer.  Tire lifted using a 2x4 and a heavy rubber door stop.  Once bolt could be inserted used a hammer to drive it thru.  Torqued em down.  Also had to remove lower bolt to rear brake caliper as a third point of attachment.  Pics are on FB silverwing group.
Used hitch and a receiver to mount a 6' flagpole.  Secured the middle of the pole to my Givi box (using a rok strap...but will rework this)
Old Glory looked awesome running down the road...

6 ft pole on the rear of all ready rear weight bias---does nothing for handling in my book, maybe danger.

I agree John but I am assuming that the flag would only be mounted for parades and such. Low speed stuff so no big deal. Being in the American Legion Riders, this is how we run. The aerodynamics of a 6 foot flag at freeway speeds would be very scary!!!
