Some kind of puller a bit more "official" than this puller by the legendary Stephano Bonacasa. But you'll get the idea.

No mention of a puller in the WSM, I wonder if they're for holding the casing to a fixture during a machining operation

I'd have to agree with you.  That bearing could be pulled with a expandable tool no need for for threaded holes there for a puller.  Large center hole for centering outer case on a fixture.  Video not in english so who knows.  Made his own bearing puller from a few bolts good idea. If he threaded center hole and used a small slide hammer would have pulled bearing. Maybe a little heat it would come out better.

What I remember doing (if my memory serves me correctly), when I had a Burgman, I used those two holes to screw in two bolts ( a little at a time) left side then right side a 1/4 turn , left side then right side until inner contact was made that popped off cover for me to get to the belt.

Indeed bud, WSM says to warm the casing with a heat gun sufficient for the bearing to drop out & to fit new bearing with a drift.
