New to this forum and looking for Silverwing with ABS

Hello,
I am going to be upgrading from a Honda C70 Motorcycle/Scooter to a Honda Silverwing with ABS. Can someone tell me what years would be good to look at and others to stay away from!

I'd say there really are no bad model years - some of the early years (2001 - 2002 - 2003) had a few minor recalls. OK there is some risk if the recalls have not been applied.

Not sure when the O2 sensor was added - 2006?

Is there an alternator upgrade?

New dash materials - 2007.

Uninspired colors - most every model year.

Truthfully the upgrades are so few and are really inconsequential in nature that they border on preference.

I just didn't want to find out after I found one that I should have got the one with Fuel Injection, or one that has a different motor, etc.


Now I wonder why they don't have airbags?

Welcome aerosilverwing, regards the airbags. Perhaps a jacket with built in airbag may suit your desire!!!!

If memory serves me well, all 'Wings' are FI. The rest of changes over the years are subtle and really not worth worrying about.

If your bike is due for any recall work, Honda will perform the work regardless of how old the bike is or how many owners it has had.

As others have noted, the changes since the bike came out in 2002 have been minor and should not drive a purchase decision for most people. Color is probably more important.

All in all, it is a VERY reliable bike with minor maintenance needs.

As everyone else has said.. there haven't really been too many changes at all since they came out. And as Philip said, all recalls will be done by any honda shop if they haven't been done yet. Good luck and tell us what you get ...with pics !!!!!
