I'd like to meet you in person.

But the return airfare from Winnipeg to Phoenix is steep, I don't want to sleep in a dirty public restroom, and it's too damn hot.

Maybe shoot me a return ticket and accommodation this winter and I'll teach you how to use tools and do all your own work. Then nobody will flame you and the BS sign can come down.

Hey BigBird, if we go together i remember this tiny Italian place on 7th Ave. just south of Thomas that had real aged Lasagna, spectacular stuff, really!

I'm in.

I once drove through your current neck of the woods,Springfield MO on the way to St. Pete Beach FL. It was February. Everything was grey and brown, but it was still good scenery as I remember.

They say Phoenix is really grungy and dirty as soon as you get 30' from a garden hose. True?

The valley is a pretty vibrant place really. I had a lawn at my house on Penny Dr. in Tempe. My then father in law had irrigation. But you gotta remember, its the desert. Huge sky, and amazing sunsets, but the summers are broiling. salt river project sent me bills larger than my mortgage in the summer! But i love Flagstaff the best. lived there for years as well. now im doing everything i can to get back to Flagstaff for good! Theres something ethereal about buying a sandwich, and going north a bit, and having lunch while your feet dangle into the Grand Canyon. I cant wait!

I know we've gone totally off topic, but what the heck.
I have driven the old Route 66 through NM and AZ. I really liked the Flagstaff to Kingman section. Imagine a flatlander from the Northern Plains seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time. I thought I was on another planet. The only thing that comes moderately close to the GC is the Canadian Rockies.
Oh, and maybe Ahoora's peaks and valleys.

frustrated who cares

The cool thing about the canyon is, until you walk right up to it, you would never know it was there. I can imagine the first spanish explorer probably fell right in.
