| Just logged up 8066mls. Time for sevice, i changed the spark plugs for Iridium ones as they were the same price. Are these supposed to last longer? if so, how much longer. I'm waiting for my oil filter to arrive so i can change the oil. I've now done 300mls on the plugs and they do seem to respond better, also the tickover has dropped one or two revs. Over 50ml per hour it really is "on song ". Maybe the old plugs had just had enough ,they were a good brick red colour though so the engine seems happy . |

| In am extremely happy with the one I installed in the MuZ or MZ, 0-25000 kays used about 6 std NGK's. This is a single cylinder bike and to change plug was to remove fairing, you could do this while engine was cooling and then drop a really long plug wrench into the vertical bottomless pit, which was especially difficult to cleanout prior to plug removal. Then a screwdriver or tommy bar was needed to free said item and with due care it could be retrieved and a new/cleaned plug could be reinserted as well as skinning nuckles and burning fingertips in the process. Replacing said plug would induce fear of burning shake in the process and plug could take a looooong fall to the bottom of the hole, possibly knocking more gunk into the chamber. After blindly relocating the hex you could just get the thread started enough to wind it in at 1/8 turn per twist . when it bit it was back to the usual nip and more skinned knuckles getting the tool out. Enter the Iridium plug......It aint seen daylight since I don't know when, I'm here in Fols....sorry ,got a little carried away! The bike now has just under 60000 kays and still fires up if the battery is up to it. Unfortunately it gets very little use these days and probably wont for at least 2 months still. yep good gear.
Running out of fuel seemed to prompt a fouled plug, so side of the road was a good spot to do this job, traffic side, naturally |
