Hi.

Presently I am a member of a well established motorcycle club and we have many interesting one day and half day ride outs throughout the year - I am the only scooterist at the moment but as yet I have not yet been on a club run with my Silverwing.

I am interested in finding out how many fellow forum members live in or near the central belt of Scotland as it may be viable to arrange some runs together next year (Even one or two this year before the salt sets in)

Also I am interested in finding out if there are any existing Maxi Scooter clubs in the central belt or even if perhaps any local forum members may be interested in joining our club which in theory is open to any motorcycle.

As far as I can ascertain a scooter having an engine capacity of 250 cc or more is classed as a Maxi Scooter / Step through motorcycle so, in theory, qualifies for club membership.

In reality however, having had an X Max 250 cc and a Burgman 400 cc while being a club member, I found that the X Max 250, although it overall accounted well for itself, struggled on the runs as it was nearly always working to its limits and even the Burger 400, which in the main coped well, I found was too near its limits too often.

Whilst out on club runs we adhere to national speed limits the big problem I found with the lower powered scooters is the general inability to effectiverly take part in the numerous powered overtakes and to properly accelarate along with the rest of the group as and when required.

I know for sure that the Silverwing will more than adequately cope with my future club ride outs.

Please send me a PM if intertested / Have any information.

Thanks.

Mitch you could try; http://www.maxi-muppets.co.uk/

or http://maxi-scooters-club.forumotion.net/ for other UK maxi riders if you are not aware of them. They tend to have a UK membership in the main.

There are a few X9OC members living in Scotland:

It's a club for all maxi-scooter riders now, not just X9s.
