| Hi, I must be bored now. But here is another one that Honda never made but seems they came so close to produce it. They even got many patents for this bike and this is a youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvvLh4OVfZU http://world.honda.com/Tokyo2005/e401/ Supposedly it was to have a 904cc 4 cylinder and was to be called an "Automatic Sport Bike" and not a scooter. This would be a great bike and it's too bad they didn't come out with this bike or the other one I posted earlier. What do you think of this one that never happened? _________________ Ride safe, JeffR 2007 Silver Wing (30,000 miles) 2005 Majesty 400 (sold 12,500 miles) 2004 Reflex (sold 3,500 miles) Givi Windshield, top case, vista cruise, power commander, dr pulley sliders, air hawk seat pad, (J. | This bike was shown at the same time as the DN-01. As we all know by now the DN-01 did make it into production. I don't know how the DN-01 has done on the sales floor, other than to report that the only one the local shop received is still available. They did get two in, but one of them was sent to the road Atlanta riders training course for their use.
I've noticed that there are quite a few DN-01's available new on www.cycletrader.com and the prices are dropping. Unfortunately this bike (E4-01) may just have been a test mule, a design exercise, and a "buzz generator". I hope I'm wrong as I would love to get two of them in my garage as soon as possible. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

| Guess I'm in the minority here but I'm just not jazzed on the styling. Probably my age showing but I still like the older scooter look, Like the Vespa and my old Riva 180. Just my opinion and i'm sure we've all got a lot of them. Dick |

So ... can you move the roof rack to the rear.
With the the Utopia backrest support underneath the seat, I need the top case to store my helmets.
Since I ride year-round two up about 60% of the time during the colder months I have to store emergency equipment, school books/supplies, laptop, windproof blanket, winter clothing for two and two helmets.
I end up using every square inch of the 107L of space (Givi 52L + 55L underseat storage) ... so I am more concerned about functionality then the "looks"._________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| Hi Bill. Thanks for your help with my questions about the Sumi tire. Received it today UPS. I'm impressed with Tirerack, and the quality of the Sumi. So now what do I do......I've looked through you tutorial.....pumped about putting 'er on.......but I'm so cheap. The original tire at 8k, still has a few miles on it, and it will kill me not to use that rubber. Might have to wait till July 1st......but not one day later. Thanks again for your help Bill. Jeff. |

I would suggest a couple of things:
1) Remove all the material/wrapping off the tire. I believe it helps make mounting the tire easier later.
2) Over a couple of very sunny days put both sides of the tire in the sun. I believe that this helps to soften the tire for mounting.
Do you know who/where to have the tire mounted??_________________ Bill - Georgetown TX 07 Silver Wing ABS Clearview w/vent, Givi E96/TB19/E52 with Admore Lighting, Alaskan Leather, Wrist Rests, 3M Solas tape, K&N air, Hyperpro spring, Grip Puppies, Airhawk, Utopia backrest, Stebel, Apexcone HIDs, StingerZ LEDs (w/Backoff WigWag), Knight Rider Sequential LED, NGK Iridium, Power Commander III, Manic Salamander, Saeng mirrors, Garmin Zumo 660, Dark-Side Sumitomo Tire |

| Hi ya Hi Yo. Good advice, and a good reality check ........Thanks. Jeff. Hi Bill. I will follow your advice to the tee! Yes, I've run this past our largest tire shop in town after asking them if they had a 165/70 13.... They didn't in there name brands.....but they happily agreed to the mount. Any concerns over this? Thanks again Bill. Jeff. Should instead go to bike dealer?? |

| Just looked at all the pictures and video on this scooter. I WANT ONE!!! One thing, I sure would not want that airbag to inflate will I was on the road. Is there any other bikes/scooters that use an airbag or is this the only one? |

| I don't remember reading about an airbag on this particular bike. The Gold Wing has an airbag option on at least one of the 4 variations available from the dealer.
This is an automatic and apparently was designed to use the transmission that the DN-01 uses.

| Yeah, I see it. Don't get the images at work so I had to check on my smart phone. As this one has not gone into production, I guess that leaves the Gold Wing as the only one. _________________ Dale Huntsville, AL

| An ex-X9er friend, Barry (BarryCello, so named because he had a Ferrari-Red X9 with all the Ferrari badges on it) has a DN-01 and loves it to bits. He has also a white 650 Burger with so much bling on it I'm surprised it moves under its own power. He's ex-RAF and the Honda suits him down to the ground. _________________ Mike - Riding on the right - riding for pleasure!

You don't have to worry about the airbag being "new" technology, the above video is over ten years old and was released prior to the introduction of the "Airbag" model. The white bike is a 1999 Aspencade and the red one is a 2000 model........ BTW both are GL 1500's the production model is a GL 1800. |

| The first Goldwing with an available air bag was the 2007 GL1800. It's real purpose is to absorb some of the energy of a frontal impact. It's not going to prevent one from coming off the bike but simply to reduce the damage to the rider. I'd love to have on my 1800 but it's a 2001 model which didn't offer that. I think anything including an airbag would be great to prevent a full face plant into the side of a car running a red light or an oncoming one that turned left in front of you. I haven't read of any inadvertent air bag deployments occuring on any of the Goldwing forums I frequent so I don't think that's a problem. |
