PostSubject: Question for UK members   Question for UK members I_icon_minitimeMon Apr 18, 2016 3:45 pm

Are any UK Silver Wing members who are also Maxi-Muppets having trouble accessing the Muppets site? As far as I know, I haven't been banned (yet!!). For the past couple of days I've been able to open up the home page , but when I try to log in, I'm getting a screen saying website cannot be displayed.

Anyone got any ideas? Meldrew,do you know what might be happening?

Grateful for any answers.

Muppets is down because of serious server problems.
Other sites are in the same boat.
The admins are in direct contact with the people in charge of the server and updates are being posted in the MM Group on Facebook.

I'll post here if I see MM back on line - perhaps you'd do the same.

I copied this a couple of hours ago from the Facebook page and pasted it in the X9OC Forum:

Peter Moulds Update 7
We are currently working on restoring your VPS packages using data recovery tools; in other words, we are attempting to recover your packages bit by bit, while checking data integrity at the same time. ...See More

Murat Koprulu Bloody hell, its a right mess isn't it

Peter Moulds Yup, I will be looking at moving hosts as soon as I can get compensation sorted if I can get out of the yearly contract only paying a pro rata'd amount, or something. Running a script on a live system/server that could delete data/accounts with virtually no recovery options is inexcusable, It should have been tested on a dummy server and/or set to suspend not delete.

Peter Moulds No, we are better than them! I was just reading their facebook page and articles on line, so many customers are in the same boat and wanting to leave.

This an hour ago:

UPDATE 8:
As the data recovery work continues for those remaining VPS we ask that you contact our service teams via the support email, the team reviewing these emails are able to see the status of the work so far and update you where possible.

Please note that we are actively updating all outstanding customers on a case by case basis as we get information from the recovery team. This update will be via email. We would ask that you wait for the email update. If you have questions about the recovery or need other information please do email the team.

All these different names confuse me. I find it hard enough to remember one for each person!
I'm Cookie on here and on Muppets - otherwise I'd even confuse myself Shocked

Just tried and still can't get on - hope they sort it out soon.

The first scooter forum I joined, way back in 2002, was the X9 Riders Club (X9 Owners Club now) and I used my CB Handle as my name on there:- Mr.Chips

When MaxiMuppets started I wanted to get in the spirit so chose 'Waldorf' as my profile name.

Subsequently, I decided to use MikeO on other scooter forums.

Don't worry mate I'm Meldrew on everything, unlike a certain old scrote on here who live on the wrong side of the Pennines and uses another name on the Muppets. A clue... it sounds like Blimey! Smile

I do visit Maxi muppets now and again, but, I have no interest at all in pop pops.  I still class myself as a Motorcyclist, and being one since the sixties,  mainline scooters  the Italian Vespa Lambretta  and any two stroke really  are not for me.I do have a sticker on my windscreen that says SYLAR. I might also add that after my experience with one bunch it put me off that site.

Was that the time you were er... "splashing your boots" in a public convenience over in North Yorkshre and the rest of the group went and rode off without you?   Evil or Very Mad

It wasn't so much riding off, it was because my bike was not locked up. Any group that does not look out for One member is not worth bothering with, why I prefer to ride alone, I don't need "friends" like that.

Latest post - 18.48 BST:

Peter Moulds Last two updates

UPDATE 11:
We can update that the next batch of VPS restores have been completed and we will communicate this to customers directly. Our teams are continuing to work on the remaining VPS restores and expect the majority to be restored by the end of this week. We apologise that this has taken longer than anticipated.

We thank you for your patience and support during this time.

UPDATE 10:
Service is being restored for the majority of customers affected.

We reiterate that our service teams are inundated right now, however are working hard and through the night to respond to open emails.

Where possible we ask that you wait for the email update that is being sent to each customer with individual VPS status as we get more information from our data recovery team. This will allow our service teams to focus on assisting those customers with their backups to get online.

The very latest - 23.00 BST:

Peter Moulds: Good news I hope got this email today from the Brand Director

'Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere apologies about the current situation with 123 Reg’s VPS service. We understand how critical your VPS and website are to you and we have been doing everything in our power to get you back up online.

I am happy to report that we have been able to recover your VPS from the platform.

To ensure full restoration we are performing data recovery carefully before we proceed to put your VPS live.

Over the coming days, your VPS will be turned back on and you will have full access to your service.'

I was wondering where that site went. Someone was asking on the www.maxi-scoots.com site so I posted some of Mike's response above. I go there but don't always sign in.

Maxi-Muppets is back on line.

Peter was taken ill last week. His wife drove him to hospital when it was thought he'd suffered a stroke.
Fortunately (although still not nice) he was found to be suffering a severe migraine, not a stroke.

No doubt the stress of all this contributed.

He's well now.
