So, I got my belt and Dr pulley sliders. Got everything taken apart and behind the variator is very dirty. What the best way to clean this? Brakecleen? Wipe it away with a dry rag? Please help as I'm at a standstill!

Hi CnR, yes, that area can get pretty dirty. It's mostly dust from the belt and rollers which lodges there as the mileage builds up.
If you have access to an air line give it a good blow out with that (but wheel it outside first so you don't inhale the dust - you know the score).

Otherwise brush as much of it out as possible with a stiff paint brush or something similar.
Then you can use a brake cleaning spray and wipe it as clean as possible.

Then stand back, admire your work, make a coffee and try to remember where you put all the bits!

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure brakecleen wouldn't hurt anything inside there.

Brush and vacuum cleaner the worst of it, some Brakeclean for the rest , pull the clutch sand the shoes sand the drum wipe down = good. I had a chance for a ten mile run today, smoother take off less vibration = happy. I would have tested it more if it were not for a hospital;l run for my wife Crying or Very sad
