Speaking of Wales, is there any news of The Dragon Rally, or is that affair more for the young lads rather than for Silverwing folks?

The Dragon Rally is a complete and utter waste of time, it's basically riding to a rubbish rally site somewhere in North Wales, getting a cheap badge and then freezing your bollocks off overnight in your tent. Sleep is hard to come by with the noise of drunken bikers lurching over guy ropes and pissing inches away from your tent flap.
I went to a couple of Dragons many years ago, I've still got the badges pinned to a 25th Anniversary Dragon Rally bobble hat.

I would recommend NOT "doing" Strata Florida on a scooter .... .... it is much better done in a Frontera :D
Seriously though, any idea of intended route & what are you interested in ?

If you perhaps plan to go to North Wales - I would recommend KARDEN HOUSE B&B located at Llandudno, a really good coastal location for North Wales, and just around the corner from the railway station.
I stayed there for 5 days last September, first class accommodation and outstanding breakfasts ! Really nice people, clean and very good value !
Hope you have a good holiday break !

If your route back into England is via the Severn Bridge, the you should visit Tintern Abbey ....... http://www.castlewales.com/tintern.html .... if you do go that way I can tell you of the pub with the very best steak & ale pie in Wales if you are going via Satffordshire, that is where you will find the best steak & ale pie in England (to date, but I have tried a lot of pies in a lot of counties )

Then my good fellow if you're after good pies you should venture into Yorkshire, not Staffordshire. Down in the Potteries they're better known for faggots n' peas and Staffordshire oatcakes not pies. With respect to my good bud The Bern, the steak and kidney pie trumps the steak and ale pie every time, and a good minced beef and onion takes some beating too, it's all in the gravy.

The pub in Tintern, if you sit in the seat by the window at the east end of the pub, you can look out the window & see the hop fields that the local ale is harvested from I got a card in the car, will look it out & post here

Can't argue with you there bud, steak & kidney is my all time favourite These days steak & ale seems more prevalent on pub menu's , tell yer what though bud I've found a pub in Shropshire that does excellent pies all with suet topping rather than puff pastry If you're ever in Essex there is a pub that makes Steak & merlot pies which are really tasty.

last time we were in wales we had a cottage so no B & B, would recommend the snowdonia mountain railway and the the great orme railway, Angelsey motor museum was ok but the local air museum was a waste of time. also watch out for the ole bill, in Wales they dont just hate bikers, they hate everyone. Take good waterproof gear with you, you'll need it.

I think Scarborough has gone down the nick a bit as traditional seaside resort since I was a kid and was at Butlin's in nearby Filey. Whitby a few miles away is a more interesting place, it's kind of quirky and very popular with the Trad scooter mob. At other time of the year it's full of Goths and Steampunks, and it's a very nice ride over the North Yorkshire Moors. You can buy freshly smoked Whitby kippers there, but you already have a very good source of kippers down the coast in Craister.

Hi gooffy, I've never had the slightest interest fitting Dr Pulley stuff on any of the five maxi scooters I've owned. I can overtake traffic and cruise at high speeds all day at home and abroad on my bog stock Silver Wing so to me it's totally unnecessary.

When I replaced my rollers with Dr Pulley sliders my rollers had a lot of flat spots on them at less than 20,000 miles. When I checked my Dr Pulley sliders at 54,300+miles they had literally no wear at all. Even if I stayed with the stock weight of 28 grams I'd still use Dr Pulley sliders instead of rollers. Sliders are designed to slide without disfiguring whereas it's common for rollers to get flat spots.

That's fine if you're into that stuff, and if you're not you could always visit the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales where there's a village called Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. That's the short version, it's full name is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwryndrobwillantysiliogogogoch.

At first I thought of my mother-in-law, she's Welsh and was born and raised on Anglesey. So I asked Mrs M if her mum could say it and she replied of course she can, and so can I.
She then proceeded to say it word perfect without any hesitation, and then more slowly so I could check it phonetically off my previous post and it was 100% correct!

I shall be heading in the general direction of Wales in May for the X9OC Annual Bash.
We're staying in a village in the Forest Of Dene, not in Wales but close and will probably venture in for our Saturday Rideout.
Interesting place, the Forest Of Dene; think a much gentler version of 'Deliverance' and you'll have an idea of the way many people view it.
