| My wife volunteered our house for a friend's wedding shower so I decided to make myself scarce and take a long-cut to one of my favorite restaurants about 40 miles away. Went there the long way. Mission Mountains Wilderness area A couple of pix of the Flathead River just before it enters the Clark Fork River The best tasting water in Montana Chicken fried steak with sausage gravy- unhealthy as hell and absolutely delicious. |

| Two questions. What's the name of that restaurant and how far is it from Texas to Montana? Nice pics. |

| Lake Mary Ronan Lodge. Depends on where in Texas you start
My mom's people are from Texas and this sausage gravy rivals any I've eaten in TX. |

| I remember when I lived in Illinois I was able to get really good sausage gravy in a lot of places. Then I moved out here to the bay area of Calif and I can't find good sausage gravy anywhere. I miss the deep dish pizza, Chicago dogs, Italian Beef's, and gravy. The people out here put ketchup & mayo on their dogs. I hope these people never go to Wrigley and do that. |

| Maybe not the best diet for anyone watching their cholesterol or calorie intake , but it is delicious . You Canadians must surely be deprived if they don't serve this dish up North.
You probably can't get decent crab cakes either

I've never heard of that stuff in Canada.
It looks and sounds disgusting. The only thing that would tempt me on that plate are the veggies. Terry, Only manly-men would find this good. I love good sausage and bisquits or over chicken fried steak. |

Bigbird has spoken, so it must be bad. He's become the resident expert on all things from the U.S.A. I give him as much credit as that other guy's proclamations on the south. Terry, I'll trade my beautiful veggies for your disgusting steak. :lol!: |

| [q uote="bigbird"]In Tex-ass, don't y'all eat chicken fried snake?[/quote] You're so clever. Never heard that one before. Yes, we eat chicken fried steak and our mommas raised us to not insult those who don't live as well. Just enjoy your little provincial life and never try anything new. That way you can be the all seeing, all knowing expert. As an aside. You may have run Dennis off, but Texans don't run. So continue with your insults and derogatory statements. It shows how shallow you are. |

| Jeez folks, lighten up. I plainly stated that CF steak is unhealthy as hell. It is most assuredly not part of a balanced healthy diet. However it sure is good maybe once a month or so. |

| Terry,
It is true that vegetable oil is better...and as a matter of fact it increases your lifespan if you eat Chicken Fried Steak with vegetable oil. I still don't understand why they call it Chicken Fried Steak when beef is used. But it sure does taste good if ordered at the right restaurant.

| I was in Houston last month. The topic of discussion in their legislature was a law that allowed them to place a silencer on their rifles. I guess they don't want to scare the deer before shooting them??? Hey Big Bird did you sign Wendy's petition yet to make poutine our national dish. Time is running short!! |

Hey Big Bird did you sign Wendy's petition yet to make poutine our national dish. Time is running short!! It's so we don't startle the pilot when hunting from a helicopter. (Yes that's allowed) If Bigbird will let me know when he's coming, I'll meet him with a sidearm. :lol!: |

Hey Terry, If you eat enough Chicken Fried Steak here you won't have to worry about your ride back. We can just bury you here...I know a good tombstone maker. As for the sidearmm I prefer throwing knives since they come with a built in silencer. |
