| I was searching for a post that dealt with the FSC600 Silver Wing's history and year over year model changes. The reasons are:
1) curiosity as to what design and option changes were made in what years 2) I want to buy a Factory Service Manual for my K5 600 with abs and I want to get the right/best manual and 3) I wish to buy a couple of used lower fender skirt panels and I only found a set of 2004 panels and want to know if they will fit my 2005.
Any insights appreciated. Thanks, ~ sonuvabug ~ |

| Cosmetically there are only two changes that I am aware of:
In 2006, 2007, & possibly 2008 the US model floor skirts were silver. All other years had floor skirts that were the same color as the body.
In 2007 Honda changed the dash and went away from the posi-lock box catches and the painted dash. This gave the SilverWing a textured black plastic dash with box cover latches that were a bit easier to work (in my opinion).
Mechanically:
I don't have that info as accessible as the minor cosmetic changes so I'll have to defer at present.
I know there is the addition of the O2 sensor... |

| It sounds like there were not major design overhauls to the SW and it also sounds like the 2004 lower fender skirt panels should work fine on my 2005.
Any idea when the O2 sensor came into play? When looking at used manuals, it seems like there are quite a few for 2002-2003 but I think the one I want is the one labeled 2002-2007 FSC 600a (I assume the "a" is for ABS brakes?). |

| My 2005 has the silver skirt. All skirts should fit. But the color might not match. Just make sure of that one thing and you should be all right. I do not know about the 04 color skirt. |

| I posted this on my site in August.
Listing of Helm's manuals and what years they cover:
http://speedsupplies.com/partslisting.asp?position=2&increment=500&category=HE
Below is a partial list of what is covered in the above site.
61MCT08 FSC600/A/D Silver Wing 02-07 - 2002-2010 FSC600/A Silver Wing Service Manual 61MCT05 FSC600/A/D Silver Wing 02-07 - 2002-2007 FSC600/A Silver Wing Service Manual 61MCT04 FSC600/A/D Silver Wing 02-06 - 2002-2005 FSC600/A Silver Wing Service Manual 61MCT02 FSC600/A/D Silver Wing 02-04 - 2002-2004 FSC600/A Silver Wing Service Manual 61MCT00 FSC600 Silver Wing 02 - 2002 FSC600 Silver Wing Service Manual
31MCT660 FSC600D/A Silver Wing 08 - Owners Manual 31MCT650 FSC600D/A Silver Wing 07 - Owners Manual 31MCT640 FSC600D/A Silver Wing 06 - Owners Manual 31MCT630 FSC600D/A Silver Wing 05 - Owners Manual 31MCT620 FSC600D/A Silver Wing 04 - Owners Manual 31MCT610 FSC600D/A Silver Wing 03 - Owners Manual 31MCT600 FSC600 Silver Wing 02 - Owners Manual
14MCT601 FSC600A/D Silver Wing 06-07 Official 2006-2009 Honda FSC600A/D Factory Parts Catalog 14MCT2E1 FSC600/A/D Silver Wing 02-05 Official 2006-2005 Honda FSC600A/D Factory Parts Catalog
31xxxxxx is the Owners Manual 14xxxxxx is the Parts Catalog 61xxxxxx is the Service Manual
Remember, you can look up information for a 2002 in a 2007 manual, But do not expect to find all the information about a 2007 in a 2002 manual.
PS: In the U.S.A. the SilverWing came out with the 2002 model in 2002. In other countries our 2002 model, might be your 2001 model."
For the factory service manual, you could use the 61MCT08 or 61MCT05 or 61MCT04 as shown in the above information.
A new service manual number was issued only if a major change was made. Minor changes or corrections had update sheets sent with the last printed manual.
New manuals came with stickers to change the "covers" model year to the most current year. A 61MCT04 manual could show "2002-2005 FSC600/A" or "2002-2006 FSC600/A". Because of this, there are a lot of stickers floating around. Sometimes they end up on an incorrect manual year range. If buying a used manual, try to use the 61MCTxx number for the right manual, as 5 basic service manuals were sold to cover the 9 years of production. |

| One other minor [for most people] difference is the front fender - the '03 ABS is unique. |

| Yes; if one wants to buy the Fehling's chrome trim for the front fender one has to state whether it's for a Silverwing with or without ABS. |

| Something that was pointed out to me when I saw my damaged bike, was that the chassis number showed that it was a 2007 model. But the bike was bought as a 2010 model. Is this usual? Do they use the same chassis from year to year and just add different cosmetics?

| Thanks, I didn't know the ABS models were unique. My 05 is ABS. |

Laurie I think that whoever sold you the bike misrepresented it a whole lot. The chassis number actually shows the year of manufacture. But, yes, they do use the same chassis year to year. |
