| As the title says, I am currently trying to restore a silverwing & it’s my first ever project bike. As a 22 year old, I don’t have much mechanical experience but I would love to learn so that I could be prepared for next time.
I’ve read a lot on this forum and took notes on some interesting things but what steps should I take to get her running again?
As of now, I replaced the battery, I siphoned out the old gas as best I could & added sea foam. I also removed the seat, floor skirt, & plastic (Oil drainer is stripped unfortunately so I can’t change the oil so Im stuck on that). She started up fine when there was little of the old gas and when I added new gas, it cranks good but doesn’t start (I suspect the fuel injector is clogged?).
If you have any advice or suggestions on what I should do, I’d love to hear them! If there’s also any questions you have or clarifications I missed out, let me know. Thanks in advance! |

| Just wondering if the fuel pump is shot from sitting in the old fuel (varnish and /or rust)— happened to my bike before I took ownership and prior owner had to get the tank repaired and get a new fuel pump. I guess it could be the injectors as well if damaged from water separation of ethanol containing fuel (if sitting x 4 years)- also check if the plugs are firing (take one out and have the wire connected, support it and crank it over- see if a spark is seen)- rule out from easy to more complex. |

Good idea. I’ll inspect it on my next free day and keep you updated. I did buy spark plugs I have yet to replace so we’ll see on that end. |
