| Hey everybody.
I'm negotiating for an '06 S-wing in showroom condition with only 4k miles. It sat garaged for a very, very long time. The fluids were changed and it's running but it needs new tires and the drive belt replaced for the kind of road trips I want to take.
What would you pay for this? I offered $2500 knowing that I need to put another $1000 into it to get it reliable and safely road ready. |

| I don't believe $2,500 is too far off, maybe try lower ?, given stated condition and the fact that maxi scooters are all but extinct of the US market, add to that some people are gravitating to cheaper means of transport, etc., etc., but need to be open to the fact that it is a 16yr old "Box of Chocolates" ??. Vehicles "sometimes" are worse off when they have little use, too many variables too cover here. I commonly see brake calipers sticking due to years old brake fluid contaminated with moisture/water, creating corrosion and seals sticking, was the case on my used 2012 !!. You should do a full cvt service (clean/inspect./lube) as grease ages/breaksdown/dries and a "New" belt, + do all items in the 8k miles maintenance schedule should be done + brake/coolant fluid change. Of course there's the issue of who's doing the work and/or finding competent/knowledgeable/willing, bikes shops or individual to work on a old scooter IAC, 1k will disappear quickly at a shop/dealer DIY is not hard, is you have above average mechanical skills, seen a lot $$ FU, from those who thought they could. A lot of DIY info here and YouTube, etc. Note, OP is in the US, your SITU could be different !! |

| You've got low mileage and excellent cosmetics going for you. You've got low mileage/lack of regular use and some major expenditures going against you.
If it were me, I'd offer $1,700 to start and see how the negotiations go. $2,000 would be about my limit knowing you need need new tires, drive belt and likely other things you just don't know about yet.
Having said this, local market conditions, demand, and prices usually dictate pricing. |

| yea...i backed off the deal... i really felt i was very fair at $2500 but maybe i dodged a bullet in terms of the unknowns with a bike that sat for a decade |

| Dang ... I missed the part about you already offering $2500 ... DOH! It may well be worth every penny of that $2,500. The challenge is ... you really don't know at this point because it's not like you're buying it from a friend etc.
Maybe if he comes back and says OK at $2,500, you can say you've had some time to think and do some research and your position has also changed. After all, that's what negotiating is all about.
Either way, good luck in your quest. |

| oddly enough, my Swing was in a light accident with the previous owner. it rode just fine and the engine was strong with only 4256 on the dash. i brought it for $1200 and restored and replaced all the plastics, windshield, tires and handlebars. this which cost me (rough estimate) of about $3.5k over the course of 2 years |

| Hello Jeffmaira,
I'm Michel from Granby, Qc. We are kind not to far...
If you are game to cross the border I can find you one and with the money exchange it will cost less that is for sure... but we have to do it fast because up here there are rare. Here is a link for a 2006 only 14000 kilometers. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/983276112576519/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A2ac09aa4-0709-4b41-940a-5137dc950c0c
I'm sure I can deal it for less. Give me some new...
Michel |

| I just now brought my first SWing home. It’s a 2006 with 7,000 miles and abs. Seller was asking $3000. I got it for $2500 cash. |
