Oatman is a tourist town (formerly a gold mining town from the 1800's). Back in the day when the mines played out most of the miners simply released their burros (donkeys) into the desert. They have thrived and are all over Mohave County! A lot of them wander into town for a handout and the tourists LOVE it! Yesterday I rode with two friends up to Oatman and had lunch, loads of burros all over! A very enjoyable 85 mile ride today!!!
