| OK I still think the Swing is an incredible machine, smooth torquey engine , great seat , lighting , load carrying ability , reliable and reasonably economic but if only it had a bit more power , a decent front fork and some reduced weight it would be for god damn perfect!
So I have replaced my tail can with a Titanium GSXR and that alone must have saved 5 kg but what next. I have a few ideas but want to hear what you guys think in case I have missed something obvious....
Battery - Yes maybe .5kg saved with a modern lithium / gel battery Wheels - No I dont think they make any aftermarket versions do they? Centre stand - No that's too useful Helium in tires - Yes maybe , its lighter then air.... Led bulbs - Grams , so hardly worth it Hand brake gubbins - I never use mine but think it can be useful in some situations - maybe 1KG
Over to you....... |

| Forgot to add the passenger footpeg brackets things are very heavy too so removal of these and custom cover could be added to not spoil the looks, I guess they are not structural in anyway? |

| In my case I'd start with removing all the junk I've accumulated under the seat and in the topbox. And then some of the post Christmas lard I've got round my midriff - I expect to be greeted at rallys this year with a rousing chorus of "Who eat all the pies...?" |

Hmm… In addition to replacing the muffler with something lighter it might be nice to “recast” those Pillion Step Holder bracket things in carbon fiber. |

| Reducing weight will help with one side of the "bit more power" equation.
Performance mods is another approach. Things like upgraded variators, springs, sliders, custom mapping (tunes) etc. Collectively, these may eke out another 5-10% more power depending on who and what you believe.
Lots of threads available using the Search function. Good Luck. |

| KIM that drastic reductions in weight can have adverse reactions to the way the scooter handles and/or how your suspension works, your oem shocks may be too harsh/stiif with reduced weight, now if you are '"bigger" or added extra gear like top cases and saddlebags, etc, it may be beneficial to go aftermarket on muffler to reduce some static weight, just be realistic of what you are working with and research, it's very likely most mods have been considered before in this pages. |
