| Hello all
This new member is from Cape Town, South Africa, and I have recently become the proud owner of a (new to me) 2010 model Honda FJS600A.
I also own a 1981 Honda GL500 Silverwing, 1999 Burgman 400, and a 1982 Honda CX500 Turbo restoration project.
My venture into maxi scooters started when I was literally given a Big Boy Powerflite 300 scooter, and although I had great fun with it, I soon got bored due to its lack of power and poor level of finish resulting in plastic body panels constantly coming loose and driving me crazy with the rattling noise.
Being now firmly hooked on scooters I bought the Burgman 400, which is adequately powered for 1 person, but I found myself looking for something more powerful and more "Honda".
Being a Honda man who already owns a GL500 Silverwing, the next step was obvious, but 600 Silverwing scooters are scarce in my part of the world, and only come up for sale about once per year.
The FJS600 I bought recently in fair condition, which is why it cost just under $2000 (pristine versions sell for around $4000 here in SA).
Going forward, I'm looking forward to the invaluable technical help and camaraderie that these forums offer, similar to the ChopperCharles forum I belong to for help with my Honda CX's.
I think that's enough info for an introduction. My next posts will be technical until I have my beautiful machine back in perfect condition! |

| Hello ARJ. Nice Introduction! Welcome to the forum.
One tip: Add a mudflap to the front fender. It will help protect the radiator from getting clogged with mud and grime. |

| Welcome ARJ to the BEST SWing site on the net. Thanks for the great intro. There's lots of info here and the "Search" box at the top left is a great place to start. If you can't find an answer there then just ask. Someone will probably know the answer. |

| Greetings from a fellow Saffrican. There was a guy out in the Garden Route who was selling this month. Did you buy that one? We don't have much choice for Super Scooters in Africa. You can buy a $$$$ Burgman/BMW or look out for a nice used Swing. I love them so much I am on my 2nd. They will happily run right through the heat of Summer without a second thought. For Winter you will appreciate the fairing, but invest in heated grips for those freezing mornings! Enjoy your ride - Honda here still has a full variety of new parts for the Swing. |
