Turn Signal Wiring Empty
PostSubject: Turn Signal Wiring   Turn Signal Wiring I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 07, 2020 4:34 pm

I'm looking to add a "turn signal alert" (re: beeper) to my 2008 SW.  I'm having trouble finding the wiring colors and am hoping someone may be able to assist.  Here's what I've been told:

• Ground = green/black band
• Right Signal = light blue/black band
• Left Signal = orange/black band

I've also found within this forum:

• Ground = blue/black band
• Right Signal = light blue/white stripe
• Left Signal = orange/white stripe

A unverified 600 wiring schematic:

• Ground = green
• Right Signal = light blue
• Left Signal = orange

Checking the wires going to the signal switch under the handlebar tupperware, my scoot has the following (among others):

blue/black band, green/black band, light blue/black band, light blue/white stripe, orange/black band, orange/white stripe

Thoughts? Advice?

You need to be picking up a signal between the flasher unit and the switchblock; the 02-07 manual shows a Grey wire from the flasher unit to the switchblock, there it splits into the L and R circuits (orange and blue). The flasher unit is integral to the instrument panel so you best bet is to tap at either the multipin plug at the instruments or the 8-pin plug leading to the left switchblock.

I understand. I was planning on splicing in after the switchblock using a kit made for Burgmans and Silverwings. You mentioned an orange and blue wires. Does you manual state if they have a white stripe? And what color is the ground?

The diagram in the service manual shows lightblue/white (R) and orange/white (L) to the front lights, and the same minus the white stripe going to the rear lights. Earth for these lights are green. There appears to be no earth wire as part of the left switchblock wiring, but you can connect to any other earth wire or the chassis if you need an earth for your beeper. There is certainly both the Gray (12V from the flasher unit) and Green (earth) wire at the back of the instrument panel that might be convenient and easy enough to access with the garnish and screen removed.

I downloaded my service manual from the Silverwing owner's page on Facebook.
