Does this NEED a cotter pin?

My front axle....

No cotter pin is used there. That is so you can put something in there to hold
the axle while you wrench on the axle bolt on the other side.  I usually used a
longish Phillips head screw driver that would just fit. I'm sure there is probably
a proper Honda tool to use, but the screw driver worked for me.
