How to spring balancing head bearings advice

HI all so head bearings installed went with standard ones in the end ..So my question is this, looking at the manual it gives the spring balancing technique in a diagram is that with handle bars fully assembled switch gear mirrors the lot etc  or just the stem ? Cheers k

Hi bud, it's just the stem, otherwise you would be putting stuff on & off until the adjustment was right, that & it says ...  

If the readings do not fall within limits, readjust the steering top thread.

Install the removed parts in reverse order of removal

Hi Bern cheers for the advice I have a manual but was unsure because it says rebuild handle bars etc then the spring test is after that..anyway I managed to do it to torque spec and it is a vast improvement over my spring balance attempts ...cheers again

On quick way to check head bearings is to hold the front brake and rock the bike back and forth a bit. If it's seriously loose you'll feel or hear a slight click or clunk as the bike moves to and fro.

Been wanting to use the word fro for a long time.
