| As far as I know, the four black plastic ramp plate 'guides' make no difference to the operation of the variator rollers/sliders. I would replace them anyway as they don't cost much and it's another job done.  |

| Had a set of guides sitting around and while rebuilding the rear pulley installed them. They were very tight sliding so I filed them a little to work smoothly. Sliders had dark spots from use.
Used some 400 sand paper and smoothed the ramps on drive pulley had some casting grit. Just enough to make a nice surface finish. SW feels better on take off not so much vibration.
400 and some miles since then and feels better than before. Have about 12k on sliders. |
