Queries for site administrator/s

Those seven stars above a person's avatar -- how do they work? I have one star; others have six or seven. Is it based on the number of posts?

Why do they read right to left, Arabian style?

Is the description part of the same process? I am defined as "Scooter Rider," although I would not admit that in a thousand lifetimes. I am not a scooter rider. I ride a motorcycle with an automatic transmission.

Can I be a Silver Wing Rider instead?

A scooter is a 50cc bicycle on steroids. A Wing is a motorcycle. A Burgman 650 is a motorcycle. A BMW 650 GT is a motorcycle. In Florida, anything 150cc and above is classified legally as a motorcycle.

(Not that anyone should use Florida as an arbiter of correctness, of course  ;o)

The stars and 'names' are just on how many posts someone has made. I started this shortly after I started this site just for fun. If you get enough posts you are a Guru..or something like that.

Love it, Kev! Although there may be a bit lost in translation. I'm guessing motorbike is the equivalent of motorcycle in the UK? Over here, it describes a motorized bicycle.

As for British humor (humour?), I laughed out loud this very day at Emma Thompson in a "Saturday Night Live" clip ... "British mothers are a particular breed of cryptic. If you ask your mum how she is and she says, "Splendid," what she actually means is, "I'm sad, I'm happy, how are you, you embarrass me, I'm crazy, you're drunk. Splendid is sort of our "Aloha."

By the way, a note of gratitude. Your comments on the Schuberth M1 inspired me to purchase one yesterday (a clearance price also inspired me). I got the SRC, too. I owned a Schuberth with my 2002 BMW R1150R and loved it. Optical quality visor, wind tunnel tested, etc. All the quality features speak to my double-German roots.

Okay, by paying attention and normal attrition I cracked the code and my curiosity is sated.

My star status changed when I hit 100 posts, so I assume every 100 posts activates a change.

Not sure how Meldrew got "Visiting Curmudgeon" for his status. Perhaps some things must remain a mystery.

Close only need 500 posts for Expert rating. I think 1000 for Guru. Post up and have a good time. That's all it really matters.

So, If I post one word everyday, then I would be a Guru in 700 days.  

The only thing is.  The idea of me being a Swing Guru is absolutely hilarious.   Correct that.  The word would be "Splendid!"  

It depends on your choice of words. I'm considering becoming a Guru myself and so far it's going Splendidly

And what is there past "Guru" status I wonder

Super Duper Guru. The highest honor among SW owners. All knowing and knowledgeable.
