Over the years, ive had many different kinds of motorcycles. After it was suggested not to ride anymore, i got the itch back, pulled the pin and purchased a 2009 ABS model with 8500 on the clock.
I knew i was going to be buying the scooter after being on it for a couple of minute test ride.
I have always done my own maintenence, im no certified motorcycle mechanic, but im able to do the majority of the maintence.
This morning, i put new plugs in. Now, with fresh motor oil, fresh final drive oil, fresh air filter, fresh coolant and new tires, i can start my own maintence schedule. The brake fluid looks very clean, so ill leave it alone for now.
Whats new to me is ABS. For any other members with ABS, is there anything different when flushing the brake lines?

The only other thing you might like to check is the crankcase filter, that covers the variator, important to keep it clean, every four thousand miles. ABS as far as I am aware needs no servicing at all and flushing brakes is just normal procedure.

Thanks, Old Limey... I did notice that filter when the covers were off the other day.
How would I go about cleaning it?
Can you remove it and clean with soap and water?

I brush it first ,then put it in white spirit bath. after drying I wash it again in clean white spirit then pat dry on paper towels before air drying for twenty minutes. Just done mine so all details are fresh in my head. Never used soap and water. Manual says wash in solvent. Do not oil it, it must be dry like the air filter.
