Hello to everyone from a new 2003 Silver Wing owner. I am in the process of restoring it. It's in good condition but just needs a lot of cleaning and maintenance. I got all the Tupperware off and it has 14 years of dirt under the covers. I wonder if it would be ok to spray a cleaner on it and wash it out?

Hello, Hugh. Welcome to the forum.

Maybe a gentle wash, but I would certainly avoid wetting the ECM, the Combination Meter & harness connections.

Maybe a dry cleaning with compressed air??? Probably all oily grime, though?

Hugh, first welcome aboard the board. Second I' use a shop vac and a 1 or 2 inch stiff bristle paint brush to remove as much crud as I could before any liquid flushing.

Oily grime? Au contraire... These are Hondas. Mike, you must have retained some genetic memory of your earlier days with that other "H" brand.

That's funny Tim. I certainly didn't mean that the oil would come from the Honda ... just splashed off the roads before the bike may have been over dusty roads. LOL ...That splashy oil and fine dust can get everywhere.....creating oily grime. No experience here with those noisy bikes of that other H brand. The Silverwing has been my first and only.

I like OWG's method a lot better than my suggestion. Kind of contains the non-oily dust rather than blowing it all over the place.
