Silverwing toast and Bonh Armor riding pants.

I was heading for an afternoon ride. ATGATT specially on the big ones ( SW and VT 1100 ) and I always wear my Bohn Armor lycra underneath jeans. I was following a pick-up towing a works trailer and this guy pulls top the shoulder when we got to our off-ramp. I see an opportunity to pass, and as I do so, he pulls a hard-left high speed U-turn. I had nowhere to go and barely had time to register what was happening. I think I went for the brakes. I hit his crew cab door and fell to the ground. I later saw the cab window was out too: that explains the sore neck. Helmet did its job !
Ambulance and police attended and a lady witness was kind enough to wait for authorities and gave her details to the officer. I was taken to the ER by ambulance; one of the EMT remembered me from my days as a Head Nurse at my first hospital in Canada !!!
Luckily no broken bones, but plenty pulled muscles on the right side and a sore neck. OTC pain meds recommended and follow-up with GP. I expect the pain and bruising will worsen over the days to come.
I saw pics of the scoot and it looks like toast. I had a lucky escape, and gave my thanks to my guardian angels who were watching and were with me. And thank you to Bohn Armor for an excellent product and the helmet for saving my bucket.

Glad to hear to survived with hopefully minimal damage to yourself. There is always another SW out there to replace yours. I had mine written off in a recent accident and it makes you very weary of driver behavior. I don't trust indicators or my expectation of what a driver will do next; but I try to be prepared for the unexpected. And of course you were smart enough to wear good protective gear, which could well have saved your life if you have head injuries. My Silverwing was written off by the insurance company even though it only had scratches on a few panel; nobody wants to repair maxi scooters over here. Luckily I had an 'agreed value" policy and got a pay out well above market value.
So, I hope you will feel better soon and you can start the hunt for another SW; don't let this incident discourage you!
